Hi,
Fou4s is doing su because it runs as gid fou4s to make it usable for all 
members of group fou4s (in the beginning I thought that it should not run 
as root, but it isn't that useful if it can't install packages ;-)

The su call is then used to get the original group (root) back, otherwise 
rpm installs some files with gid fou4s, which is unwanted.

I can't say why the su call fails, though :-(
If you are running it as root it should always work, maybe something 
changed in your PAM config lately? (check file dates in /etc/pam.d)
