I went ahead on one of my 8.1 machines and it didn't ask for interactive mode. It just installed the new kernel without any intervention or asking. And I didn't see if it ran mk_initrd and lilo by itself. I figured that it ran mk_initrd since I had seen this before happening on 8.1 and Suse also says it does since 8.1 and the /boot dir looked ok. So I ran lilo just to be sure and hoped ... Everything went well, but there seems to be something wrong if it installs the kernel right away?
