Carl, et al -- ...and then Carl Spitzer said... % ... % There was a gateway through which her service allowed email to come in and % by which she could reply. It has been shut down so I am trying to replace % it. [snip] I've been trying to follow this and I think it finally makes sense. It was an interesting approach, though :-) So if she needs email, what about browser-based email to any of the big freebie hosts? If she has a smartphone, then she can surf, and so even if she can't use the native mail application on the device because of whatever her provider is doing she should be able to surf. You might even go as far as a VPN to let her surf wherever -- which then, I expect, puts directly emailing back on the table.
