What is "Migration-Toool" for?

Hi,

Soon I will have to change my main computer from OS 15.6 to 16.0. I'm 
asking because I am not completely sure if I missed something and want 
to do it right with the machine that's most important for my daily work.

There is a "migration tool" but I read of a lot of problems with it.

So I just updatet a fully (except /boot) encrypted Laptop directly from 
15.5 (not 15.6) to 16.0 the easy "classic" way:
- deactivated packman and deleted all other repos except repo-oss and 
repo-non-oss.
- as root: zypper --releasever=16.0 ref
- as root: zypper --releasever=16.0 dup
There were like 50 "problems" which I solved using one of the offered 
options (mostly No. 1)
after the download and install:
- activated packman repo
- as root: zypper dup --from packman --allow-vendor-change
- added Mozilla and Showimage repo, for latest firefox and the very 
useful showimage app, and installed the desired

This all went smoothless and as much as I can see it just works.

Now that was so easy and without any problems that I wonder what the 
migrations tool could be good for. As it obviously exists I wonder if I 
missed something with my update that I will find out only later and 
would be important when I update my main PC? Or was my simple way just 
the way I should also go with my main computer?
