In Tumbleweed, it's /var/log/warn.

I'm very interested in this, so could you show me the results of
/var/log/warn | grep read-only?

If it's been set to read-only, the system shouldn't be able to write
to the log files, so any traces of that should only be visible in
journalctl or dmesg, right?

The issue you reported isn't the kind of problem that would occur in
your script.
