Could this be a known issue with the combination of a KDE Plasma 6 X11
session and an Intel GPU?

If so, wouldn't a temporary workaround be to restart the window
manager using Alt+F2+r?

If that doesn't resolve the issue, your user will need to disable the
fade effect -- though this might be an incentive to switch to Wayland
