I am about to try that (again). Unlike previous versions 16.0 & 16.1 seem to hide the procedure. I used the migration tool for my desktop computer, but it croaked on my ThinkPad. In the partitioning for 16.1, there is an option under storage "Find space" > "Use available space". Hopefully that will allow me to install over top of an existing 15.6 & Windows configuration, without clobbering everything. I'll find out later today.
