TW - MozillaThunderbird-140.13.0-1.2 - Need Help/Ideas - it started taking 70% CPU Continually?

All,

   Tbird has slowed to a crawl the past few days on Tumbleweed, since 
the last update on 8/12 (version 20260812). It's almost unusable. It can 
take 10 minutes doing something with sporadic login failures to gmail 
(only to succeed a minute later and remove the dialog from the desktop)

   I just dumped 10,000 log line (gecko logging) for from tbird for 
imap, e.g.

   It doesn't look like IMAP is the issue, the logging is stopped (tail 
-f /home/david/tmp/tbird_log_file) while tbird just keeps spinning its 
wheels doing something else. The login failures are just due to the time 
tbird is spending doing something else.

   I've never seen this before with tbird in 20+ years of using it and I 
don't really know what to look at to figure out what it is spending it 
time doing other than a full strace of the executable. Which I'll do, 
but I want to know if anybody else it seeing this on tumbleweed? Also if 
anybody has a better idea on how to debug the issue. strace is more an 
exercise, as I'm not great at immediately spotting problems in 700,000 
lines of output with 10s and 100s of similar lines as it just translates 
the path looking for every possible location to open a file from.

   There really is nothing remarkable in the log output from the attempt 
above.

   I'm deleted and compacted all the folders, and no mail is missing. 
I've run repair on folders to check, but that takes 20+ minutes to run 
on each folder.

   So I'm out of ideas other than strace or guessing at what other 
logging to enable from https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging??

   Ideas? Anybody else have tbird go nuts on TW in the past week or so?

   Here is a short snipped of the spurious failures seen in the log 
above, but this seems more just because it was busy elsewhere, but maybe 
somebody else will see something I don't. Right now the little mini-busy 
line in the status bar is stuck on and here is an example of what top sees:
