It appears that the kissattach/mkiss interface is broken in OSS 10.0, most
likely a problem with the interface between kissattach and the mkiss kernel
module. When doing a kissattach I get a message like "TIOCDCTL device not
found" and "did you load the MKISS module". The mkiss module is loaded,
netstat shows a line that something happened, but there are no listeners and
subsequent commands to use the port fail. Also, there is nothing shown in
ifconfig. In fact if I unload mkiss with modprobe -r mkiss, ifconfig will
core dump indicating that the module has corrupted the kernel device tables.
The system will also hang when shutting down at the "shutting down network
interfaces" section of shutdown. It occurs using either the 9.3 or 10.0
builds of ax25_tools.

I can set up a test node and try to get some better details if needed. At
this point, I am not sure who the responsible maintainer would be. I would
have done a little more debugging if this had not been my production server
which I had to back down to 9.3 to get it back in operation again.

Subject: [suse-ham-e] hamradio packages for 10.0

(Deutscher Text unten)

Hi,

I've finally put up the hamradio packages for SUSE Linux 10.0. Just add
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/ham/10.0-i386/ (or one of the numerous
mirrors) as an installation source to YaST ("yast inst_source") and you can
use YaST to install the packages.

Please note that I just have built those packages and haven't tested a
single one. Especially the baycomepp and soundmodem packages contain some
adjustments of preprocessor macros that wouldn't compile with GGC 4
otherwise. qgrid has been dropped as I really don't have the time to fix the
makefile...

Bug reports, preferably with diffs that I just need to add to the spec file,
are appreciated, but please note that I'm building the packages when I have
some excess time here at work, which only happens very rarely.

And, of course, these packages are *not* official SUSE Linux packages.

-----

was in den letzten Jahren zunehmend seltener vorkommt.

Und natürlich sind es *keine* offiziellen SUSE-Linux-Pakete.

Have a lot of fun,
