Ok I've had another look. Indeed, the 'Synchronise Folders' dialog does 
present a bunch of options (a few of which don't have help tips - I 
mean, what is 'Feed to Listbox', for example?). I've found the Profiles 
button down in the bottom left, which is useful and enables me to 
quickly bring up a pair of saved folders, as can be done in Komparator.

The actual scanning of folders is veeeeeeerrrrrrrry slow in comparison. 
For my test, I'm using a network folder via fish/ssh as the destination 
on the left, and a cifs mount for a folder on a drive attached to the 
router as the source on the right. The mysterious thing is that the 
activity light on the cifs-mounted drive is not engaged during the scan 
process, as though it's reading the directory listing from a cache 
somewhere. I've never used Krusader before but maybe there's a shared 
KDE or system cache. However, for the ssh directory on the left, a 
subsequent scan needs to read it all over again, so no cache there. 
Weird. Must be a default samba caching thing.

Then I run into an annoying behavioural quirk. Once I've got the list of 
differing files displayed, if I want to select any of them to apply an 
action via a right-click contextual menu, either left-clicking or indeed 
ctrl-clicking attempts to immediately open the file(s) in Kompare, and 
then if it's not a text-based file it fails with an error dialog that I 
have to cancel. So I have to go through this bug every time I want to 
actually apply an action. I could set no program for comparison in the 
preferences, but there's times I would like to use Kompare.

Assuming Komparator will not be (easily) installable in Leap 15, at that 
time I'll fall back on Krusader, and come that time maybe I'll file some 
bugs or feature requests. Until then, Komparator is still the undisputed 
champ.
