Hi Franz,
what I can provide is a src-rpm to make switching of the internal-external
display work. But watchout: I personally did not test how to realize
different resolutions on the internal / external display, so your mileage may
vary.
I suggest to do the following:
build the binary to the src-rpm I provide with this mail:

rpm -hiv i810switch-0.6.5-3.src.rpm

cd /usr/src/packages/SPECS
rpmbuild -ba ./i810switch.spec

after building:
cd ../RPM/i586

rpm -hiv i810switch-0.6.5-3.i586.rpm

After that, you ought to be able to switch between internal and external
display by simply calling /usr/sbin/i810rotate (call it three times to toggle
all states). If that works, you might try to integrate this into your current
environment, if you succeed in getting this to do what you want to achieve, I
could help you with integrating in such a way that FN-F7 switches; however,
you should try the things I mentioned above at first.
Let me know about your progress, I love to help if I can.
Take care

Dieter

if you really want to see the pictures above - use some font
