Thanks a lot Mattias. This is the type of thing I wanted to hear :-) However, I'll try this cautiously, with all data backed up and with enough time at hand to do a fresh install if necessary. I had this option enabled in Suse 10.0 (was not default) and I never had any problems with my fat32 partition. Perhaps I was just extremely lucky. Perhaps because I wrote to it only rarely. In any case i'll try your suggestion.
