suspend and the ati driver, do the behave well together?

Hi,

I have a t42p with a "ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2" running under the closed driver 
version 2.0.6400 (8.35.5) on Suse 10.2.

I was able to suspend to disk and resume once. The 2nd time it failed to 
resume. Is there any way to get this working stable together?

Also, I sometimes need VMware. Does their driver interfer with the ATI driver?

With the open source radeon driver it had all worked together but without 3D.
