I can reproduce this problem, but only when using OOo with
the Gnome theme. Do you use Gnome?

I can reproduce it always. There Gnome theme for OOo was still
quite buggy in SuSE Linux 9.2 as far as CJK input is concerned.

A workaround is not to use the Gnome theme for OOo:

    export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=none
