Scim and Tk: Cannot enter any characters into edit fields

Hello,

I have the problem that as soon as SCIM runs, I cannot enter anything 
into the edit boxes of Tk applications like
/usr/X11R6/bin/Convert

Any ideas? This is with SUSE 9.3 and scim-1.3.0-0.1.
