Probably you put your mpg mpg4 files in a DVD-data disk, which is not the same as a DVD-disk. A DVD-data disk is not readable on most DVD-players.
Solutions: buy a cheap DVD-player which can play MEPG4 or DivX. Or connect your PC to the TV if your videocard and TV have that option.
