Sorry, you need phonon-backend-xine installed, there's also a vlc backend phonon-backend-vlc available from openSUSE, haven't tried it yet. 
Another phonon-backend-gstreamer-0_10 bug is it keeps on installing mp3 support but the next time you start it asks to install it again.
