Which version of SuSE?  /dev/cdrecorder is not the device but a link. 
if you run:

ls -l /dev/cdrecorder

does it exist?  Usually it's /dev/cdrecord.  You can use:

hwinfo --cdrom

to find out which device exactly is your cd-rw.
