Thanks Matthias, that did it. I also upgraded alsa at the pm site, and then
went to pbone and upgraded all the packages related to jack, and rosegarden,
ardour (not quite working yet), etc....
I can now use jack to input audio from the line with my external keyboard.
And in rosegarden it does show to paths for the external keyboard. I have
yet to determine if this cheap $100+ casio with gen-midi is actually capable
of send keystoke output to init sound/midi sigs.
The reason I mention this is because it appears a fair amount of work is
going into get the sound/midi/studio stuff working and usable. But the
problem is, as one might expect, it that docs for end-users are scarce and
vague. I would like to contrib to making an end-user doc/howto/help but I
feel I need to get to things settled. A) do I have equip that will allow me
to use the software/machine properly and B) Is my machine setup correctly?
So, if you might (when and if you have time) give some suggestions or point
me to resources It would be greatly appreciated. One of the most basic
things I would need to focus on is device setup/permissions, etc. How does
one confirm that it is all as it should be?
TIA, Curtis.
