My sympathy for you. I too have problems with SuSE. Only  mine is with 
8.1. ( I can not get on the network, no matter how it is configured!) No 
problems with my 7.2. I believe someone goofed with the 8. series. I 
have gone back to my Windows 2000 Pro. and I will continue to use what 
works. I wish you good luck. charles
