I had a problem getting the AC97 sound chip on my motherboard to work
at all with ALSA and KDE. Eventually I installed a sound card, and
then got it to work by turning off the chip on the motherboard with
the BIOS before getting YAST to reconfigure the sound cards. Since
then it works fine.
