kwintv keeps sound on in suse 8.2

I have an all-in-wonder ve tv card installed. I use
kwintv to watch tv on it. I can use it in suse 8.2 and
it works fine except when I exit and the sound does not
turn off. I know I probably have a wintv card and it is
not the fault of kwintv or suse. I like to keep on
using it but how do I control the sound. I can turn
down the line-in volume but it will effect the volume
for the whole system. If I play a game I will barely be
able to hear it. I could delete my sound card and
re-istall it but there must be a better way like
reconfiguring alsa.
