Midi in suse 7.2 pro

When i issue the command 'cat /proc/asound/sndstat' i get sound card listed but against synth and midi it says NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG.  Anyone any ideas about what is wrong - do i have to recompile alsa? Or what config does it mean.
