IMNSHO, *best* solution is to get a card reader.  It acts like a hard
drive.  Access the card (most are seen automatically by SuSE) and
transfer the files to hard drive, put the card back into the camera. 
You do not have to power up your camera and waste the batteries and do
not have to worry about the camera being supported by Linux.  

Card readers available on sale for us$15.00.
