IDE Cable & Audio CD

HI!

I can listen audio CD-s under (SuSE) Linux only if the CD-ROM driver is connected with my soundcard by an (analogue) audio cable. Is it possible to listen audio CD-s without the connection just mentioned, only with the aid of IDE cable connection???
(This method was practicable under Window$ XP.)
