I would highly recommend a capture card/camera solution over any of the 
usb solutions.  I've got four such configurations and they work quite 
well.  Look for bt878 chipset.  Usually Hauppauge cards, but I've found 
some no name ones.  You can get a capture only card for around $20 US 
and the camera for about the same.  Some of the Hauppauge Wintv cards 
have a tuner and an additional s-video input.  You can toggle between 
watching your camera or watching the teli.

I've got one that uses the motion package to watch my driveway so I know 
when someone pulls in. (I work from home in a basement office.)
