Audacity not working in 9.1

Hello!
I have a freshly installed 9.1 personal system on a generic Pentium 1.8 
box, and I am having trouble getting Audacity to work...
- first, it doesn't appear on the start menu despite being installed 
(then reinstalled with both yast and apt), though the binary file is in 
/usr/bin and the plugins folder is where I assume it should be
- when launched from the shell, I get this response:

- I have 'refreshed' gtk, gtk2, gtk themes, and anything else that looks 
like it relates to this, and still the same errors...

Any ideas please!?
