no sound on reboot

I am running SuSE 9.1 Professional on an Alienware Area-51M notebook
computer...

Whenever I reboot the sound does not work.. I can get it back by running
the Alsa Volume Control and unchecking the boxes for ICE958, ICE958
Capture Monitor ICE958 Capture Valid and ICE958 Plaback Source.

Is there a way to make this change permanent?  It is becoming a mild
annoyance to have to remember to do this everytime I reboot.
