Editing mp3 files

Hey all,

I have put all my CDs in mp3 format on my harddisk. However, for a couple of 
songs, there are long (10+minutes) pauses in the song. For some others, there 
seems to have been a problem regarding the timestamps on the CD so the songs 
are shifted (part in one mp3, other part in another mp3).

Is there an application that can directly edit the mp3 files so I won't have 
to recode the songs? With editing, I mean simply cutting the files on between 
frames and glueing pieces back together.
