Check here. Go into YaST > Hardware > Sound.

Click on your card Model, if it isn't already selected.

Click the Other  button.

Click Volume. You should be able to change a bunch of settings here.
I've found I've had to do this on each install on my Dell 600m laptop.

Don't forget afterwards to install lineak and the osd so you can use
your multimedia keys.
