I have a similar problem with an Acer Aspire 5102. So far it seems that
YaST is detecting the sound card as an ATI card but doesn't seem to have
a driver.. It uses the hda_intel driver.  In researching this it seems
that actually it is a RealTek sound card and I am in the process of
trying to find a driver that matches.

The bottom line is that we have to get YaST to correctly identify and
install the code for this card before the sound system can actually
manipulate it.

My system is an AMD 64 X2 processor with an ATI chipset. So I am
guessing ATI used RealTek components for the sound card but it is being
shield from the hardware identification process.  Everything else works
without problem including built-in wireless.

Another example of how manufacturers make this harder by not providing
technical information about what components make up systems.

I will post back if I get a configuration that works.
