Hi, I forgot to say that since SLES-7 is also Oracle certified this also works with SLES-7, in theory - but in practice, since SLES-8 - has been tested much more rigorously - is part of "Unbreakable Linux" - is a free upgrade! You may just be asked to upgrade if you encounter any serious issues. Oracle support is your (support) interface so I can't say for sure what they'll do (probably depends on the case), but especially if you are doing the deployment only now there's no reason not to do the free upgrade. The most important part of my message was that you have to contact *Oracle* support if there are any issues, including for the OS - as far as it's Oracle related only of course. Example: It's the Oracle workload that somehow crashes your system: call Oracle, although it's likely we, SuSE, end up finding a patch (Oracle support will sort that out and do that for you). If you have trouble setting up sendmail in SLES-8: it's not Oracle related, you'd have to call SuSE... (but here on this mailinglist we're talking about Oracle problems only, right). Sorry for using so many words, I didn't have time to write a SHORT summary ;-) Regards, Michael
