If you do not absolutely need ASMlib (I don't like it), udev is a great fried 
of yours: In /dev/disk/by-id you have all devices e.g. from a SAN environment 
zoned to you. Take these into /etc/raw and access raw dvices direktly. No 
management overhead, no complexity. Just a suggestion/workaround, depends on 
your attitude :)
