That's good to know as that was a major issue for our switch decision a
few years ago.  It's good to see that Novell/SUSE recognized the
importance of this.  I still think 7 years is very short and this still
works against Linux when looking at TCO, especially when compared to
Microsoft options which regularly have a 10 year or longer lifecycle.

I apologize for the incorrect information.  I really had looked for this
updated information before I posted by doing a search for SLES9 and
Lifecycle on the Novell website, but I should have searched for just
Lifecycle as my search retrieved an older article which still listed 5
years.  I didn't mean to intentionally misrepresent Novell/SUSE and am
glad to hear that they have addressed this issue since we were customers
as it was one of two major factors which drove our switch to Redhat.

Since that is the case then maybe Oracle will still certify 11g for
SLES9.  Perhaps it just hasn't happened yet.  I'm sure customer demand
drives some of that decision.
