Re: SuSe and Oracle11- why SLES9 is nosupported while RHEL4 (and OL4) are supported?

I don't believe that it is 100% Oracle decision. Such things depends of 
_available softwqre, agreements, how company position their product_. I am 
pretty sure that it some point Novel have been asked _which syetem should we 
use for future products_ and answered _SLES10 and not SLES9_.

(Through no one need Oracle on sles10 and everyone need it on sles9 until 
now. No benefits from sles10 in this case.).

Result - there is not any SLES which is well suited for Oracle. SLES9 wil 
not support new Oracle, sles 10 still dont support old Oracle-s (and wil 
never run ora9).

I am 100% sure that if someone in Novell insisted _our PRIMNARY server 
system is SLES9 SP3, so it is mandatory for Oracle11; our new system will be 
SLES10 so it's better to certify now then to wait a few years_ - we could 
see Ora11g on both SLEs9 and SLES10. (And the same with Dell - it's unlikely 
100% dell's decision to support RHEL4 and RHEL5 but only SLES10).

I can't understand why you have this impression. If Oracle had planned (or 
whatever) supporting "11g on SLES9", why would Novell/SUSE have any problem. 
It's not Novell/SUSE call and I hope you got the point.
