Oracle 10gR2 install on SLES10SP1 issue

I've done an install of Oracle 10gR2 install on SLES10SP1 and had it
running successfully. I created a couple databases on the 'orcl'
instance and was then able to connect and work with the database with
both 'sqlplus' and 'sqldeveloper'.

Since I have rebooted the machine, I can no longer connect with
sqldeveloper and it appears this is because the 'orcl' instance did
not start. Also, I can no longer launch sqlplus on the machine (don't
know if this is related).

So my questions would be:
1) How do I manually start the 'orcl' instance on the box?
2) How do I have the 'orcl' instance start automatically on boot?
3) Does not having the ability to run sqlplus mean there's a darker issue here?

Thanks!
