Maybe it is not of any help, but you should know, that
RAC cluster 
components do not invherit secondary groups
from the 'oracle' user (at least, CSS daemon), so you
should configure
 all 
devices (CSSFile and OCRFile) to be owned by the
oracle
(including raw devices if you use them).

Thanks for the suggestions.  We went with a more brute
force approach by having
/etc/udev/rules.d/71-multipath.rules call a script to
chmod and chown the appropriate devices in /dev/mapper.
