  Dear All,

I have verified and there was no cron job running. Communicating means we are not able to ping this server from any other server. This server is also not able to ping any other server. This happens at between 2.00AM to 3.00AM. What we did is just remove the LAN cable and attach it again. Then it works for entire day and again stops at same time. This is only for saturday, sunday and monday. For other days it works properly without any problem. During this time oracle database is up. We have not changed any thing in the server. We have tried changing NIC as well but no success. There is nothing specific in the log files as well.

  Regards
  Trusha

  Well,

  any cron jobs running?

What exactly do you mean by “communicating”?

Did you try to run any logging feature like a sniffer(!)during weekend?

Just try to create some statistics using things like top etc.

Collect information and tell us. J

Did you change the location/position of the server, anything around it? Please don’t laugh!

The Question relies on some EMV issues.

I had something like this cause of an open Ring indicator port at an UART on an IPC board

but this was really(!) strange jardware problem. And very tricky to find during development.

  Dear All,

Since last few weeks we are facing some strange problem with our server. We have installed Oracle Database 10g on SuSE Linux ES 9. During weekends, the server stops communicating with other server. When we remove the LAN cable from the NIC and attach it again it starts communicating with the other servers. We have tried by changing NIC as well. In this situation the database is up. Any comments on this?

  Regards
  Trusha Dave
