Hello all, I would like to know where I could find some good links ( or documentation) about "How ASM works internally". I am especially interested about knowing how ASM maintains consistency across multiple disks ( file hearers, time stamp, journaling , etc .. ). We have : * Oracle instances on ASM ( All active components reside on 1 VG : +DATA ) * +DATA VG is based on multiple disks ( between 4 and 10 depending on the guest ) * We flash the running instance with an hardware (IBM DS8100) or software ( LVM snapshots) solution without any consistency groups defined for the ASM disks. The operation is really quick ( < 1 second ) and basically flashes the disks 1 by 1. * Database is in backup mode during the flash (alter database begin/end backup;) ASM and DB seems to be in consistent mode every time when we start them both on the flashed system. I can understand the DB part but not really the ASM one. so is this just luck ? Thanks in advance, D> _______________________________________________ suse-oracle mailing list [email protected] http://listx.novell.com/mailman/listinfo/suse-oracle
