Quotas on SLES10.

Dear All,

I'm evaluating SLES10 to see, whether it suits the needs of my start-
up, but already with the quotas (, where I'm completely newby) I ran
into problems. Read mainly online docs for weeks and google-ed a lot,
but my problems couldn't be solved yet.

- First I made two groups, web10 and web100 and was able to configure
10Mb and 100Mb soft/hard block-limits for them, respectively. My idea
was to create these two groups and depending on the actual membership
of a new user, that user will have 10 or 100Mb quota in /home. This
was wrong, because all my users had "users" as their primary group,
therefore could save unlimited amount of data; therefore repquota
didn't even show data belonging to the groups web10 or web100. My
assumption is that with such special group membership I can't achieve
my aim and if I put users into any web10 or web100, I can't really
define that they should have 10Mb or 100Mb limits:( Still assuming
that this group quota could be used e.g. on project basis that
eventually people working for project1 (and having that as primary
group membership!) can use this or that amount of data TOGETHER...
Would you please confirm that this is the normal behavior and this
group quota is mainly like a sum-up for all users in that group?!

- Based on the above I will most likely need to define the limits on
a per-user-basis, which I also tried, but using e.g. the vi editor is
not so difficult, but maybe there is a command-line alternative to do
that easily while avoiding to use an editor. This alternative method
I couldn't find in the docs.

- The very last problem I got was that, when defined the block-limits
for a testuser, that guy could still save much more data, then the
soft and even the hard-limit allowed and only the 7days default grace
period started. Is there a way to setup e.g. 5Mb as soft limit and
6Gb as hard AND after the later not to let the user to save anything
more? I plan to run warnquota via cron, but for few days it is still
not OK that somebody can use as much space is available...
