Re: [suse-sles-e] Best option to run Oracle 11gsles10 sp3, or sles10 sp2 kernel 39.3 Don't use sles9 sp2 release - it had a bug. Don't use sles9 sp4 - it had a bug (until kernel 311) and then it have compatibility issues with the new hardware. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rocky Allen To: carlopmart ; [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2009 10:12 AM Subject: Re: [suse-sles-e] Best option to run Oracle 11g for me it would be sles10, or even better sles9. You should never deploy a production oracle db on a brand new anything, i.e. new version of oracle, or new version of sles. Always better to stay a version behind and let others work out the bugs, in my humble opinion. Sles 10 adds all of novells licensing crap which almost never works right, and makes getting patches a pain. In sles9 you can just license it without all the bull. plus sles9 is stable, and runs oracle very well on it. If your objective is uptime, then you cannot miss with sles9 and oracle 10. I have several servers running with over two years of uninterrupted service. And yes, I needto install 11gR2, sorry to not post before ... But my question continues: which can be the best option?
