Pool is all the packages that are on the DVD Extra is additional packages with lesser support levels Update is newer packages released after the media (mostly security and bugfix updates) Online is used to move from GA to SP1 (then not used after) SMT can not only mirror but also gives a nice interface to list available channels and choose which to mirror. You might think about switching from YUP to SMT...
