Alexei,

Many thanks. I think that extra licensing for Linux Clustering will be
required as well. Seems to me that anytime Oracle is installed on a server
and can be attached to a database then Oracle wants its pound of flesh.

Thanks again,

Scott

His philosophy was a mixture of three famous schools -- the Cynics, the
Stoics and the Epicureans -- and summed up all three of them in his famous
phrase, "You can't trust anyone further than you can throw him, and there's
nothing you can do about it, so let's have a drink."

I think they mention 'Linux cluster for the application' It is failover
clustering (heartbeat or what is in SUSe now).

It can be used for Oracle too, but generally speaking, it is better to use
Data Guard for oracle because it provides 2 copies of the database, not
just
one copy which can be switched over to the second server (so that if data
are damaged, cluster will not help). Read oracle about 'Oracle MAA'
regardimng data guard and similar options.

(Drawback of Data Guard - it require extra license; Drawback of oarcle RAC
-
it require extra license + RAC license + dot protect dfrom data damaged on
the disks).
