Slow logon process

Hello to everyone I have recently encountered strange problem on some Suse (10.2 SLES 64bit) servers. Both ssh login and KDE login (via vnc) is very slow. Once password is entered it takes up to a minute to logon - either to command line or to the desktop. Same goes for logout, takes a while. Initially I thought that reverse lookup may be causing this - disabled UseDNS for sshd and didn't help. Then, I have entered "echo hello,world" as a first line in /etc/profile to see is slowdown happening before or after /etc/profile. I found out that something is taking time AFTER entering password, but BEFORE /etc/profile is read. Nsswitch.conf is having "files, dns" as setting. DNS entries in resolv.conf are perfectly valid.
