Needed services are enabled by default.

Did you try the YaST method?

Maybe there's something about the NFS server that SLES doesn't like in 
the default configuration.  To rule that out, you could test exporting 
something from the SLES server itself and mounting it.  You have to 
install the package "nfs-kernel-server" then edit /etc/exports and start 
the NFS service with "rcnfsserver start", as root.
