You can use SLES11 for your tests, free of charge.  Certification 
guarantees that you can perform an installation without problems (like 
versions of libraries).  There's no advantage in using openSUSE for 
this.. but there is some potential trouble.  Oracle software can get 
upset when it's not running on certified OS.
