Unfortunately not - it fails in much the same way.

I'm going to have to try to sit down and fully digest the
udf/pktcdvd/ide-cd/cdrom stack so I can understand what's going on
here.  I'm committed to figuring out how to get this working, but the
desire for WORM-like capability seems pretty unique.
