The formatting process is not completed

Dear All

I am trying to format a dvd+rw, but the following command does not
complete the formatting process:

$ dvd+rw-format -force /dev/cdrom
* DVDRW/-RAM format utility by <[email protected]>, version 4.10.
Error trying to open /dev/cdrom exclusively ... retrying in 1 second.
* 4.7GB DVD+RW media detected.
* formatting 0.4\/
$

Any advice?
