Remote Control the system (keyboardsimulation)

Hello,

I hope someone has a good hint for me.
I want to control a programm (mythtv) running on my server running suse
9.1 from a different system not running linux (amx media controller).

First I thought about using lirc for this. Make a connection to the
lircd running on my server and then simulate a remote control.
Doing a connection is no problem, but I found no information, which
information the lircd expect ?!

Or is there an easy way to simulate keypresses from a different
system ?!

Any help will be welcome.
