How tdo I add new drives ?

Greetings, I have 14 disks connected to my Sun box. I can only see up to /dev/sdh (8 disks in total) how do I add the definition for /dev/sdi and /dev/sdj etc etc ? The drives are visible to teh controller (I know from the fcal logs).
